TranSystems prepared rehabilitation plans, specifications and estimates for repairs to the double leaf bascule bridge in downtown Miami. The Brickell Avenue bridge is located at the mouth of the Miami River and is an important link in the arterial system that provides access for commuters and residents to downtown Miami. Rehabilitation of the bridge was necessary to ensure continued access across the bridge for years to come.
Work included span locks replacement for improved adjustability, bridge painting, installation of pedestrian gates and traffic gates with a pedestrian portal to better control pedestrians, modification of electrical controls and console to incorporate the new systems, and installation of new aesthetic lighting to improve the lighting of bridge elements and to illuminate the Carbonell statue, as well as improve lighting for the Riverwalk under the bridge.
