Piers 44-51 & Quay Wall Replacement
Norfolk, Virginia
NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic
Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek is the largest base of its kind in the world. TranSystems was selected to design and oversee construction of Piers 45 through 51 at the base, along with 2,800 linear feet of new quay wall. Before the six small-craft piers could be constructed, eight deteriorating smaller piers will be demolished. The new and upgraded piers are part of the Navy’s overall enhancement of the harbor facilities servicing its new class of barges and small craft, such as the Dock Landing Ships which support amphibious operations onto hostile shores.
