U.S. Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters Homeport Upgrades

TranSystems served as lead designer for this $20M design/build of support facilities for two Fast Response Cutters (FRC) to be homeported at USCG Base Ketchikan, AK. Facilities include new floating piers; removal of existing WPB floating pier; floating breakwater mooring relocations; wharf structural upgrades; a two-story, 12,640 square foot combined Maintenance Augmentation Team (MAT) and Hazardous Materials Storage (HAZMAT) Building; additions and remodeling to the existing Armory Building; new Electrical Substation and Compressor Shed; additional upper base parking; and utility upgrades. The project required minimal interruption during demolition and build out as operations remained in use and occupied and required close coordination with the prime, USCG, project management, and base personnel to ensure minimal interruption. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
