LOR-58-7.36 Wellington Grade Separation with CSX
Wellington, Ohio
Ohio DOT, District 3
Wellington faced a large problem for a small town. The CSX line railroad tracks separated emergency services from parts of their service areas. Heavy rail traffic created serious road traffic congestion. These conditions qualified Wellington for a grade separation grant from Ohio DOT. Although Wellington is small, it has seven grade crossings, including two on major state routes. TranSystems engineers looked at both environmental and aesthetic elements when considering feasible alternatives. The final design provides such features as retaining walls that resemble the brick buildings downtown and street lighting matching existing downtown lighting.
