U.S. Coast Guard Fire Station Gap Analysis
Nationwide
As architecture and engineering consultant for the U.S. Coast Guard, TranSystems completed an enterprise-wide analysis of all U.S. Coast Guard-owned fire stations to prepare a facility condition assessment to review existing conditions, document deficiencies and present recommendations for modifications. A gap analysis was also prepared to identify baseline design requirements, identify current and future requirement gaps and summarize impact to firefighting efforts if requirements are not met. This analysis then was used to solicit stakeholders’ input and develop two standard USCG fire station design templates to portray an ideal USCG fire station layout at an aviation support facility and a non-aviation support facility. The study covered five USCG-owned fire stations in New Jersey, California, Maryland, North Carolina and Alaska.
