BLOOMINGDALE TRAIL (606) AND PARK RENOVATION
City of Chicago Department of Transportation
Chicago, IL
The City of Chicago, along with numerous community partners, constructed the Bloomingdale Trail and Park – a multi-use linear park that is the first of its kind in Chicago – built along an unused, elevated rail line along Bloomingdale Avenue. Stretching 2.7 miles, the Bloomingdale Trail and Park runs through four vibrant Chicago northwest side neighborhoods, adjacent to numerous private properties, and crosses over major arterials, an historic boulevard, bus and bicycle routes, and the CTA Blue Line. TranSystems provided Resident Engineering and construction inspection services for this major city improvement. The project included a heavy landscaping component, including tree preservation and the installation of many varieties of trees and plants in a very urbanized environment.
