TranSystems Welcomes Hovanec and Roberts to Board of Directors
John Hovanec, PE, worked with Union Pacific Railroad for nearly 38 years serving in a variety of leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Assistant Vice President – Engineering Design, equivalent to the Chief Engineer Design at other Class I carriers. He was responsible for the conceptual, preliminary and final design of all Union Pacific capital and public projects ranging from $700 to $900 million annually. Throughout his career he developed solid working relationships with the other Class I carriers, state DOTs, the Surface Transportation Board, commuter and passenger rail agencies, and countless municipal and permitting agencies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Bucknell University. He also is a long-time member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Elaine Roberts, AAE, has more than 35 years in the aviation industry having worked for multiple airports. Most recently, she served as President and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. She brings extensive knowledge of airport operations and strong industry relationships. Roberts holds a Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis, a Master of Science in community development and urban planning from the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and sociology from Western Kentucky University.
