Our History
TranSystems has been focused on helping clients solve infrastructure and transportation challenges since its inception. In 1966, Herbert Johnson, Gerald Brickell, and Edward Mulcahy formed JBM Associates Engineers and Planners as traffic experts to help the Kansas City area adapt to its growing transportation demands. A merger in 1995 combined the talents of JBM Associates with two other highly respected Midwest companies, bringing a total of 80 years of transportation experience to form TranSystems.
Since then, the firm has expanded coast to coast and provides a powerful combination of national expertise with a local understanding of the communities it serves. Just as its founders paved the way with an entrepreneurial vigor, TranSystems’ staff remains tirelessly dedicated to providing innovative solutions. In 2021, TranSystems began a new period of growth and has since welcomed four additional firms adding capabilities, new markets, and more engaged professionals.
