Morgan Street Green Line EL Station

City of Chicago, Illinois

Constructing the first new station in nearly 15 years on a century-old elevated structure presents numerous space planning and structural engineering challenges; a myriad of utilities, zero lot lines, and adjacent residential construction provide further complications. With an eye towards Chicago's 2016 Olympics bid, public architecture garners heightened scrutiny, so TranSystems will design a $29 million station that is not only functional, but also visually striking. TranSystems' responsibilities also include interagency coordination between the Department of Transportation and the Transit Authority and supervision of a public involvement process.
