Paseo Bridge Replacement

Missouri DOT - District 4, Kansas City, Missouri

The Paseo Bridge, regarded by many as the stateliest of Kansas City’s bridges over the Missouri River, was originally constructed in the early 1950s. With an average of 102,000 vehicles traveling the corridor each day – many as part of their daily commute – it became a top priority to reconstruct and rehabilitate about four miles of Interstate 29/35 and replace the landmark bridge. As a key member of the Paseo Corridor Constructors (PCC) design-build team, TranSystems provided surveying, traffic engineering, roadway design, bridge design, utility coordination, and railroad coordination services for the infrastructure north of the Missouri River. The entire project upgraded 4.7 miles of Interstate 29/35 from four lanes to six, widened five interchanges, and built eight new bridges, including the 300-ft-tall delta pylon tower that serves as a signature gateway portal linking Kansas City’s airport corridor to its revitalized downtown.
