Arizona DOT - Holbrook District, Marble Canyon, Arizona
This new steel arch bridge was erected 150’ downstream from the historic Navajo Bridge, making it a politically and environmentally sensitive project. The new bridge is a steel arch deck truss with a 726 ft long main span and steel approach spans. The historic bridge remains as a pedestrian crossing. An extraordinary effort was made to fit the project within its physical, historic, cultural, and environmental setting. While the new bridge meets modern design criteria, it respects the achievement of the first bridge's form and function.
