Rickenbacker Intermodal Facility Design

Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Columbus, Ohio

The Columbus Regional Airport Authority had a vision for the noise-buffer land surrounding Rickenbacker Airport: a thousand-acre Advanced Logistics Park with its linchpin, a 284-acre Intermodal Facility to distribute container freight into the heartland. The CRAA partnered with TranSystems as General Engineering Consultant.  A key component of the plan was upgrade of surrounding access roads; the project team worked with all levels of government to expedite  environmental permitting and design approval for a 4.5 mile, four-lane divided roadway. TranSystems was also responsible for comprehensive design of the Intermodal Facility.
