Sacramento Fare Card Feasibility Study

Sacramento Area Council of Governments, Sacramento, California

One of SACOG's goals is the implementation of a seamless transit network for the users of the region's transit services. A "universal pass" among the region's fourteen transit operators would make transit travel throughout the region more convenient, greatly enhancing the attractiveness of transit. TranSystems played a key role in a universal farecard feasibility study, reviewing the fourteen existing fare policies, researching existing and planned regional smart card programs, and helping develop a cost model and estimate of capital and operating costs for a smart card-based system.
