Johnnie Dodds Boulevard

Charleston County, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

TranSystems provided contract documents for the design/build improvement of three miles of Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (US 17) in Mount Pleasant, SC. The Boulevard is being widened from four to six  lanes, and four-ft-wide, marked bicycle lanes and sidewalks added to the frontage roads. During the concept design, the goal was to incorporate significant public input into functional designs for increasing capacity with minimal impacts. Aerial orthographic surveys were utilized to produce a processed digital terrain model suitable for producing a contour map, which yielded cost savings during final design.
