West Loop Transportation Center Study

City of Chicago, Department of Transportation Division of Project Development

For the City of Chicago, TranSystems investigated transit solutions to meet an expected growth of 40 million square feet of office space to be added to the downtown area by 2020, bringing in hundreds of thousands of additional office workers. The West Loop Transportation Center, a four-level, multi-modal rail/bus station, would provide the necessary capacity for the city's central area transportation network, addressing constraints that had been identified for several modes including commuter rail, bus, rapid transit and intercity high-speed rail.
