O'Hare Major Rail Route Configuration

City of Chicago DOT, Illinois - Division of Project Development

The $6 billion O'Hare International Airport Modernization Program required configuring major rail routes that run along the airport's current western border to create space for runway expansions. TranSystems' relocation design also integrated the planned STAR line commuter rail and the proposed Midwest High Speed Rail connection to O'Hare. The project team developed a design and presented renderings for the new Terminal 7 Rail Station. The project also involved planning for the extension of the Blue Line rail rapid transit route, the proposed airport express rapid transit route and the airport people mover between the eastern terminal and the new western terminal facilities.
