Boston Silver Line BRT Planning

TranSystems played a major role in developing and analyzing transit alternatives for serving a newly developing waterfront area of Boston, adjacent to the financial district and across the harbor from the airport. The area is becoming the focus of new real estate development, given the new highway tunnel to the airport and improvements that are part of the Central Artery/Tunnel project. Tasks included the identification and development of alternative modes and service alignments, demand estimation, operating cost estimation, and exploration of public-private financing options. The transitway service began operations as the Silver Line BRT Phase II in December 2004.
