Waterfront Line Major Investment Study

Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, Cleveland, Ohio

TranSystems conducted ridership forecasting for an extension of Cleveland’s new Waterfront Line, a 2.2 mile light rail service connecting downtown Cleveland’s Tower City rail terminus with the Cleveland Flats and lakeshore waterfront area. The extension will create a complete loop through and around downtown. The expanded waterfront line will create Cleveland’s first rail downtown circulation system. The study revalidated the existing TranPlan regional model and prepared forecasts for several build alternatives as well as estimating special events ridership based on the results of surveys of more than 25 special events venues.
