Design/Build of the C-130 Squadron Operations/Aircraft Maintenance Unit Facility
Little Rock Air Force Base (LRAFB) is the only training base for C-130 aircraft, serving all four branches of the military and 28 other countries with instruction in the piloting and navigation of the aircraft. Due to the constant demand for the base’s services and unique facilities, expansion had become necessary. In June 2007, TranSystems was retained by Kansas City-based Walton Construction Company to serve as consultant for the design and construction of a new Squadron Operations/Aircraft Unit Facility capable of accommodating a C-130 squadron. The design/build approach facilitated a fast-track schedule.

TranSystems designed the new structure to house the following facilities and functions: Squadron Command, four Flight Offices, Flight Planning, Standards and Evaluation, and Scheduling. The 40,000 sq ft complex will also accommodate CTK, Mobility, Life Safety Operations and other associated functions. The project also includes building demolition and site services. Construction was completed in May 2009.
