Intermodal and Transload Facilities

Intermodal facilities play a critical role in the efficient movement of goods throughout the country and the world. Railroads, transportation organizations, and developers are taking advantage of available assets to create and expand these facilities. Not only can TranSystems’ staff provide expertise in track design, but from our nationwide pool of transportation professionals, we can integrate freight railroad into an established port and vice versa. The advantage that TranSystems holds is a comprehensive suite of services.

From concept to final design, our staff has been involved in every aspect of planning and design for intermodal, automotive, and transflo facilities for Class I railroads throughout the country. We have many experienced former railroad personnel well-versed in rail and intermodal operations. Their knowledge extends to you through services including rail support yards, container storage yards, yard lighting, administration buildings, gate and entrance complexes just to name a few.

In addition, we have experienced staff to provide operational analysis and capacity modeling. We know planning is everything. TranSystems’ staff has created a series of computer throughput capacity models. These models allow a simulation of the proposed terminal to test the intended operation prior to any construction.

TranSystems has designed multimodal facilities for non-railroads as well. Other projects include: trash unloading facilities, private intermodal terminals, automotive mixing centers, multi-car manufacturer unloading distribution centers, buy-back loading operations, both international and domestic terminals for exporting and importing of automobiles, and bulk commodities transload terminals handling plastics, solids and liquids.
