North Carolina Department of Transportation, Raleigh, North Carolina
TranSystems was selected by North Carolina DOT to analyze the 340 mile rail corridor between Raleigh and Charlotte for the Southeast High Speed Rail program. The work followed TranSystems' earlier Alternatives analysis study for the same corridor. The project included developing detailed rail alignment improvements all along the corridor and coordinating with other state transportation projects and CSX. In addition to the route design, TranSystems evaluated the anticipated environmental impacts, right-of-way acquisitions, structure and bridge modifications, drainage improvements, grade crossing upgrades and future station locations.
