Mesa Bus Rapid Transit

Valley Metro Bus, Mesa, Arizona

The City of Mesa, AZ boasts the first BRT system in the Phoenix metro area, extending the reach of the 20-mile Valley Metro light rail system with its rail-like transit service.  TranSystems’ task was to locate and design the 25 stations, spaced at one mile intervals. The system includes artist-inspired facilities at the Mesa Arts Center and Superstition Springs Mall, where a transit center terminates the line.  Climate responsive design, level boarding, variable message signs, and transit signal priority are built-in features of the design.
