Road Safety Audits

Kansas DOT, Bourbon County, Kansas

TranSystems has conducted Road Safety Audits (RSA) on the state highway system in 15 counties across Kansas. The RSA process includes an office review of safety conditions and historical data; a field review that records traffic characteristics such as control devices, markings, speed limits, and sight distances; and a report to document the study findings present recommendations for safety enhancements. Tasks included soliciting information from city, county and local KDOT staff about safety concerns along with  the collection of appropriate traffic data (counts, vehicle speeds, gap studies, etc.) to evaluate these concerns.
