The Dallas North Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike are two of the country’s most heavily traveled corridors. To improve traffic flow and motorist experience, the North Texas Toll Authority decided to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) along both routes. TranSystems’ services included surveys, site investigations, structural engineering, utility and power coordination, and cost estimating. The fiber optic-based system now conveys information via the DMS regarding accidents, delays and travel times to toll plazas and key locations. The DMS are also used to re-route traffic as necessary.
