City of Mesquite Traffic Signal System

City of Mesquite, Texas

Mesquite, TX, a suburb of the Dallas-Ft Worth, is home to 125,000 people. The City hired TranSystems to develop a communications system to interconnect its 90 traffic signals, and support closed-circuit television, interagency communications, and interconnection with the regional ITS.  Numerous system architectures and communications alternatives (fiber optic and wireless) were considered. The first phase has provided communication with 20 percent of the city’s traffic signals. Traffic signal controllers were upgraded, a traffic operations center was installed and communications established between City Hall and the City Service Center.
