SR 50 Realignment

Florida DOT - District 5

Project Summary

TranSystems conducted a Project Development and Environment Study (NEPA) for the re-alignment of 2.3 miles of SR 50, on a new roadway alignment, through the town of Groveland in Lake County, Florida. The project included environmental analysis, environmental justice evaluation, preliminary engineering, drainage and public involvement for an anticipated new 4-lane roadway around the central core of Groveland, which will be designated as the new alignment of SR 50. Due to the sensitive nature of the project, extensive public outreach was involved, including a Public Kick-Off Meeting, Alternatives Public Workshop and Public Hearing; regular presentations to the City Council, County Commission and Community Redevelopment Agency; establishment of a project website; mapping; newsletters and press releases; and preparation of a Public Involvement Plan (PIP).
