Clear Creek Trail

City of Shawnee, KS

Project Summary

As part of an ambitious plan to connect the City of Shawnee with the county’s regional trail system, TranSystems provided survey, design and construction management services for Phases II and III of this trail project. Challenged by complicated terrain, including sloughing banks, homes built within the stream bank buffer, two road bridge underpasses, and a BNSF main line railroad bridge underpass, both three-quarter mile projects included stream bank stabilizations. TranSystems’ team of hydraulic experts prepared detailed hydraulic models to ensure that this trail did not increase flood levels. Because of the railroad bridge underpass, coordination with the railroad was imperative. TranSystems coordinated with the BNSF to track the trail project through the review shortening the project timeline by months.
