Elgin Central Business District Streetscape

City of Elgin, Illinois

Elgin is currently experiencing considerable redevelopment of its older downtown Central Business District. The anticipated increase in traffic demands that the streets and sidewalks be repaired and enhanced. This includes replacement of sidewalks and curb and gutter with new ones incorporating paver streetscape accents, planters with irrigation, decorative street lights, street furniture, additional trees and repaving with utility reconditioning and sewer assessment. TranSystems is directing a substantial public relations/information effort, including public meetings, newsletters, and project updates via Web site, handouts and mailings.
