I-5 Widening (SR-73 to El Toro Road)

Project Summary

TranSystems' team is currently preparing the Final Environmental Document (ED) and Final Project Report (PR) for approximately six miles of mainline widening on I-5 from SR-73 to El Toro Road. This project includes the widening of four structures; replacement of Avery Parkway, La Paz Road, and Los Alisos Boulevard structures; retaining walls; soundwalls; drainage improvements; utility relocations; and reconfiguration of the I-5/Avery Parkway interchange to provide additional capacity.The project is being delivered on an expedited schedule to meet the commitments made in OCTA’s M2020 Plan for funding. The improvements are being planned in conjunction with other enhancements along I-5, requiring close coordination with all involved agencies including SCRRA, OCTA, Caltrans District 12, FHWA, and the Cities of Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Mission Viejo, and San Juan Capistrano.
