I-10/I-95 Interchange Reconstruction

Florida DOT - District 2

Project Summary

Two of the key thoroughfares in Jacksonville, FL Interstates 95 and 10 intersect on the southwest corner of the City's downtown. As part of a comprehensive reconstruction of this busy intersection, TranSystems designed 12 new single and multi-span bridges, and the widening of three existing structures. The aesthetic requirements included hammerhead piers; integral caps; piers instead of bents; and smooth transitions at superstructure depth-change locations. High-strength concrete was specified.  Nevertheless, the efficient design saved Florida Department of Transportation over $10 million on the project.
