Dames Point Cable Stayed Bridge

Florida DOT - District 2

Project Summary

The Dames Point concrete cable stayed bridge consists of a 1,300-foot-long center span with two end spans, each 650 feet long. TranSystems tested the cable forces, performed a load rating of the bridge, and established a three-dimensional structural analysis model for the cable-stayed main spans. The model required TranSystems to review all archived information from initial construction and in the FDOT bridge inspection files to determine cable lift off forces from deck survey information from initial construction and current deck survey data. Original plans, past repair projects, and bridge inspection reports were reviewed and leaning of towers incorporated to ensure the bridge was properly modeled and all necessary deterioration was accounted for.
