Deer Isle-Sedgwick Suspension Bridge

Maine DOT, Deer Isle, Maine

TranSystems developed contract documents for the rehabilitation of the main tower piers of the historic, 2,048-ft, two-lane Deer Isle-Sedgwick Suspension Bridge, constructed in 1939. The two  main tower piers are founded on bedrock at elevations of -71.0 ft. and -55.0 ft. in the Eggemoggin Reach, which separates Deer Isle from the mainland. The above-water/underwater rehabilitation design was developed in accordance with The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
