Missouri Riverfront Trail

Platte County, Missouri

Levees have become a popular location for trails, turning blank barriers into elevated promenades with scenic river views (deferring, of course, to their primary flood prevention role). TranSystems contributed trail and structural design services for the Missouri Riverfront Trail, which follows the north bank of the River in Riverside and Parkville, MO, for 3.5 miles, 2 of them on top of the levee. The trail includes underpasses at I-635 and US 69 and a 134-ft-long pedestrian bridge. The segment is an important portion of the Metro Green Trail System and the Northland Trails Vision Plan.
