Indian Creek and Blue River Trails

TranSystems provided master planning for 3.5 miles of multi-use trail across relatively undeveloped areas of south Kansas City, and final  design and construction plans for two segments. TranSystems' used the City’s GIS to sketch the path of the trails, following by in-the-field trail blazing.  The trails incorporate bridges over the Blue River and Indian Creek and crossings under City streets and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR); multiple safety measures were designed to meet the UPRR’s requirements. Effective communication with the UPRR and numerous city, state and federal agencies were the keys to success.
