Project Summary

Following TranSystems’ conceptual planning of the Pier J 107-acre intermodal terminal and 28-acre railyard under contract to Maersk Pacific, Ltd., the firm was commissioned by the Port of Long Beach to provide design services for the facilities.  The intermodal railyard features double lead track for access from the mainline to the on-dock facility; four loading tracks  for seven 305-ft cars or eight 270-ft cars; turnouts and ancillary rail facilities; run-around track extending on to the new Pier J wharf; and track access on the wharf for high, wide and heavy loads.
