Project Summary

Construction of two new commercial wharves at the Port of Oakland, with associated container yards and channel dredging, was the largest port project of its time. TranSystems acted as construction manager, overseeing seven contractors and sub-consultants.  The project team remained on site full-time to ensure that construction conformed to published documents and specification. The scope of work included managing the construction of a pile-supported wharf and Cement Deep Soil Mixing embankment foundations to stabilize the shoreline.   The team expedited construction to have the wharves ready for the arrival of four 365-ft-high cranes from Shanghai.
