Distribution Centers and Warehouses

The traditional view that a return on investment is the only criteria for determining how to optimally design a distribution operation is changing in the retail and wholesale distribution industry. Looking ahead to the future, it is important to recognize that labor market conditions and sustainability issues are at the forefront of how distribution centers are being conceptualized and designed.  The future of large scale distribution centers is a design that minimizes labor requirements and maximizes energy efficiency and sustainability.

On the consumer packaged goods (CPG) distribution side, operations have been increasingly focused on developing strategies to improve customer service levels while concurrently reducing working capital invested into supply chain infrastructure and inventory assets.  Although minimizing operating expenses remains at the heart of how CPG distribution centers are designed, this has not always been the principal driver in terms of how management decisions are taken.  Flexibility, responsiveness and sustainability are also important criteria that influence how CPG executives think through the strategic design or retrofit of distribution facilities.

TranSystems is at the forefront of developing, designing, and implementing retail distribution and consumer packaged goods manufacturer distribution centers along with the operating concepts and material handling systems that are at the heart of these operations. Our staff works with customers to fine tune operations within the four walls with a focus on improving operational performance, reducing costs and increasing customer satisfaction.
