Barilla Design/Build Approach

Barilla America, Inc., Avon, New York

When Barilla needed a new plant on the East Coast to meet manufacturing and distribution needs, a design-build approach was adopted with the goal of completing the design on an aggressive four-month schedule. TranSystems delivered the plans on time despite a challenging site that required extensive grading and drainage improvements, providing architecture and interior design along with site grading, storm drainage, cost estimating, material-handling for the warehouse, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering. The 263,000 sq ft facility now produces 300 tons of pasta a year. TranSystemsÂ’ solution features a precast concrete structure with Cold Storage Insulated panels.
