AS/RS Facilities

Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) have been around since the late 1960s. These systems are often a solution for businesses with goals to increase accuracy, keep labor costs down, and stay – or become more – competitive.

To help clients increase accuracy, TranSystems uses sophisticated software to manage these AS/RS systems. The software enables both suppliers and end users to better manage the overall supply chain, while providing the ability to reduce the footprint attached to plants. Additionally, it allows for more space for increased production capability. AS/RS Systems are further justified by the shrinking labor forces. The many advantages provided by automation to standardize processes and delivery methods allow for reduced staff and contribute to decreased labor costs.

The pressures are strong, particularly for those already dealing with low margins and it’s imperative that every possible advantage is explored in order to stay ahead of the competition. Manufacturers utilize the technology to maintain strict control of inventory lots and dating, assuring optimal shelf life for the consumer and increasing product value. TranSystems has planned, justified, and designed many AS/RS facilities across multiple industries, including food retailers and wholesalers, beverage, consumer packaged goods, frozen storage (public or retail) and 3PL.
