Fore River Railroad Engine House

The Fore River Railroad is owned by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. The 2.7-mile-long rail line ships fertilizer for MWRA and fatty acids for a manufacturing plant. .TranSystems provided final design for a new 9,200 SF engine house and adjacent office space.  Deliverables included a design report, conceptual plans, elevations, and a cost estimate as a basis for funding. The new structure is sized to allow for at least two locomotives to be stored indoors in winter at a temperature just warm enough to eliminate idling.
