Roland to Milan Capacity Improvements

BNSF Railroad, Milan, Kansas

TranSystems provided engineering design and construction management services for 12.5 miles of new mainline. The project team also assisted BNSF with right-of-way acquisition, utilities coordination, signal department coordination, and discussions with Sumner County about potential at-grade crossing closures. The project approach used preliminary plans for construction bidding to meet an expedited schedule. TranSystems maintained a field engineering and construction management office in Harper, KS to ensure timely completion of plans and oversee concurrent construction activities. Scope included track design, civil design, and SWPPP preparation, along with designs for 4 bridges, 7 culverts, and 9 at-grade crossings.
