City of Wichita, KS

The most populous city Kansas, Wichita is important rail hub. Forty trains pass through the City daily, and until 2009, each blew its whistle at numerous at-grade crossings.  TranSystems provided program and construction management for the grade separation project which built new railroad bridges at three streets, replaced two low-clearance bridges, and widened a historic bridge.  Five at-grade crossings were closed.  The City of Wichita is now a “Quiet Zone,” free of the annoyance of frequent train whistles.
