Repair Apron & Taxiway

NAVFAC Atlantic, Virginia Beach, Virginia

TranSystems completed a three-phase program to inspect and repair aircraft pavement at Air Station Oceana. Phase II consisted of a design-build project that replaced the entire Aircraft wing parking apron with the goal of extending pavement life and reduce the presence of potentially harmful foreign objects. Team members surveyed the existing apron and delineated the extent of damage, assessing both the type of repair required and the extent of any damage. Work was divided into four major categories: repair/replace pavement joints; repair (seal) cracks in the pavement; partially replace pavement slabs; and completely replace pavement slabs. Area drainage was also improved.
