Mid-Continent Airport Reconstruction

Wichita Airport Authority, Wichita, Kansas

Since the airport opened in 1954, the Wichita Airport Authority (WAA) has carried out phased renovations to maintain and improve services. Following its Master Plan, the WAA selected TranSystems to undertake four key projects: rehabilitation of the south cargo apron; construction of a new air-cargo road; reconstruction and rehabilitation of an existing cargo road; and reconstruction of the south maintenance yard service road. The scope of work entailed roadway design; pavement and lifecycle cost analysis; drainage design; erosion control details; and overall construction management.
